Even during hot August weather, opportunities to bird never stop with the Cheyenne-High Plains Audubon Society. This month we head to the mountains for a birding opportunity at Vedauwoo. Join us!
More information about all of our activities is always available in our monthly newsletter FLYER.
Dates to Remember
Saturday, August 22 – Turtle Rock Hike 8:00 a.m.
We will meet at the parking lot by the fee booth at the entrance to the Vedauwoo Campground about 37 miles west of Cheyenne on I-80. The Forest Service charges an access fee for each vehicle. We will hike about three miles, including up and down hills. While this hike was selected for its shady areas and cooler temperatures (elevation 8,200 feet), prepare for a warm day. We plan to be finished hiking by 1 p.m. We will be looking for assorted forest birds including woodpeckers. Bring plenty of water, clothes for changing weather, and a snack or lunch.
If you plan to attend, please let Grant Frost know (307-343-2024) so that we can watch for you or let you know if changes occur.
August 25 – Virtual Board Meeting (evening meeting)
We always invite our members to join us for our Board Meetings and also have several openings on our Board of Directors that must be filled. Contact Terry Harper (email@example.com) if you would like to participate in helping to plan chapter activities.
August 28 – Country Club Bird Survey 7:00 a.m. Contact Chuck Seniawski to take part or be on his email notice list: 307-638-6519
